House of Representatives Hopeful,Asiwaju Abayomi Oke decried the state of Nigeria's Educational System. While speaking to students of Allover Central Polytechnic, Ota during the week, Asiwaju said there is a deliberate effort by the political class to make an average youth ignorant and that is why the political leaders are not paying enough attention to the educational system. According to the former Students' leader, the political elites believe that if the youths are well informed, they will challenge their authority. This is the reason why schooling in Nigeria is characterized with infrastructural decay, incessant labour strike and poor funding amongst others.

In his words,"if you take a secondary school leaver and you enrol him with a tailor, three years later,he would be able to sew any type of designs. If you take a school leaver and you put him in a University/Polytechnic under the tutelage of Professors and Doctors; 4 or 5 years plus strike actions, he would not be able to know beyond diagrams, formula, definitions and theories. Such graduate would need extra training to work in his industry. He would be seeking for who to employ him. Does that not suggest that something is wrong with the system that kept him for 5+ years yet made him obtuse and out of touch with reality of what obtains in the real world. Of course, that system needs to be overhauled".
He however advised the undergraduates to seek more knowledge beyond the four walls of the classrooms. He encouraged them to get involved in extra-curricular activities. "The essence of clubs and associations in schools is to build your self-esteem and boost your social life" he said. Abayomi Oke who happened to be the Pioneer President of National Association of Business Administration & Management Students of Allover Central Polytechnic promised the students to conduct a free Human Resource Training for them. He said,he would partner with CEOs and HR Managers of some companies to come and train the students on what employers of labour expects from them during recruitment exercise.

He further added that, part of his plans when he becomes a Federal Legislator representing Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency is to push for laws that will restructure and overhaul the educational system of Nigeria.
Asiwaju Abayomi Oke was a Guest Speaker at the school's Social Week organised by the Students' Associations. This is an event he pioneered when he was a student in the school.
